D. J. Gaughan is a licensed psychologist and forensic psychologist. He earned his masters and Ph.D. at the University of Kansas, graduating with a degree in Psychology from the Department of Human Development and Family Life. His clients include children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. After working for Arizona Children’s Hospital, the Department of Corrections, and the Department of Juvenile Corrections in supervisory positions, he entered private practice.
In addition to providing therapeutic services, Dr. Gaughan has developed expertise as a forensic psychologist, providing a wide array of services relating to legal matters in Family Court, Criminal Court, and Civil Litigation.
D. J. has extensive experience working with families in transition through divorce and in working with couples and families teaching non-defensive communication. He is a Collaborative Law Practitioner helping couples and children navigate through the challenges that occur during divorce.
Highly skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Dr. Gaughan has worked with veterans, accident victims, and persons who have been subjected to physical, emotional, and sexual trauma.
Dr. Gaughan provides in-services and training to judges, attorneys, mental health professionals, and mediators. He is on the list of providers in Maricopa County for Family Court and Criminal Court and has frequently been appointed by judges to provide Court Ordered services. He also provides services in criminal matters in Pima County and in Federal Criminal cases. Many times he has been called upon to provide expert testimony both in Arizona and in other states.
D. J. has two grown daughters, one is a graduate of Arizona State University and the other is attending the University of Arizona. His primary concern and interest in life is his family. Some of his other interests include fitness and nutrition, tennis, scuba, art, and playing and listening to music.
