PHILOSOPHY OF TREATMENT

All of us are unique and very special individuals, yet in one way or another we are all looking for the same things out of life. We all want to love and be loved, and we want the best for our family and friends. We want to be happy more often than we are sad. We want to feel valued and to know that our lives have meaning and purpose. Having these goals in common, we all make our own best effort using all of our skills and resources to make the best life we can for ourselves and the people we love. Nonetheless, sometimes things just don’t seem to be working despite our best efforts. Or maybe life is “just okay”, but there seems to be something missing or we are looking to find a new direction or a new challenge. At some point in our lives this happens to everyone, no exceptions! Sometimes we may feel like giving up, but the discomfort we feel also provides our motivation to make changes. Your therapist is a guide and mentor who will help you make the changes that we all are capable of making. A skilled therapist provides support and will help you develop new skills and insights for getting along with others, managing your thoughts and emotions, communicating powerfully and non-defensively, and building your self-esteem and success in daily living.
